The US exports of aluminium scrap stood at 161,000 tonnes in August 2020. That was down 2.42% year-on-year, according to the latest report from the US Geological Survey. On a month-on-month comparison, exports rose by 1.9% from July’s export volume of 158,000 tonnes.

The US exported 1.17 million tonnes of aluminium scrap in the first eight months of 2020, from 1.26 million tonnes exported in the first eight months of 2019. This records a decrease of 7.14% or 90,000 tonnes.

The US exports of aluminium scrap to Malaysia came in at 41,300 tonnes in August 2020. Scrap exports increased by 60% year-on-year but dropped by 15.54% month-on-month. The US had exported 25,800 tonnes and 48,900 tonnes in August 2019 and July 2020, respectively.

Exports of aluminium scrap to Malaysia climbed by 75.86%year-on-year in the first eight months of 2020. The US exported 255,000 tonnes to Malaysia in January-August 2020, from 145,000 tonnes exported in January-August 2019.
